We are in Catalina State Park and it is really gorgeous. There are really old saguaro cactus and some great hikes - but more on that later. The campground has 50 amp power, water but no sewer. But we are right across the street from a brand new bathroom complex which has the immaculate showers. The only downside is I can't run the washing machine. Since we're using the other showers, we have tank room for the dish washer (it only uses about 2 gallons of water..)
This photo doesn't really do it justice, but we are at the base of the Catalina Mountains and they are stunning.
Now that is a cactus... and there's many more like it here.
This is a photo that I took on the way down from our hike to the pools. It was a challenging day and I didn't make the entire hike. Over the years, my "condition" has become more problematic with my knee and "knocked knee" issue. I made it about two miles scrambling over rocks and I really was doing pretty well (of course I had 800 mg of Ibprophen before I left) But the going got really tough and after being passed by 70 year olds who hike daily, I broke down. It pisses me off, but it is what it is. Yes, I am out of shape, but I could have made this hike had my knee been even close to normal. So, we turned around and went back. Steve turned around also (there was a big group of us..) to make sure I didn't fall on the challenging way back (downhill is worse)
The sad part is that even if I was in better shape I can't control this problem. The calcium build up around the bone spur has become thick according to the specialist. Not a good thing. So... I guess it's time to go back for a checkup again. I'm overdue.
So... when we got back and after showers, I parked my rear-end in a chair and took pictures of the humming birds fighting over my feeder. So, the day ended well!
